Welcome for refugee families

A place for meeting and support

Volunteers open their doors and hearts to welcome refugee families. The project creates a safe space where people from different cultures can interact, build trust and support each other. The aim is to make it easier for them to settle into a new environment and enable positive, everyday encounters.

Shared meals as a bridge between cultures

Shared meals are a central part of the project. Cooking and eating together creates a natural atmosphere in which conversation flows more easily and cultural differences bring people together rather than dividing them. Families can share their own recipes, discover new flavours and socialise in a relaxed environment.

Language games for playful learning

Another highlight is simple and motivating language games. They help children and adults to familiarise themselves with the German language in an accessible way. Playful exercises create a joy of learning without pressure, slowly breaking down language barriers. At the same time, volunteers often learn words and expressions from the families' countries of origin – a lively exchange in both directions.

Intercultural exchange as enrichment

Sharing traditions, everyday experiences and values leads to a deeper understanding of one another. Volunteers and refugee families discover commonalities, share differences and build relationships that can extend beyond the project. This intercultural dialogue is a valuable contribution to an open and respectful society.

A growing community

The project demonstrates how important personal encounters are for integration and cohesion. Regular meetings create a community in which people strengthen each other, learn from each other and share a little piece of home. Every contribution – large or small – helps to reinforce the feeling of being welcome.
